Welcome to Plastiq! Before we can send your first payment, we'll need to set up your account. In this article, we'll outline the steps for setting up a new Plastiq account.
Create Your Account
To begin this process, please enter your email address.
We will send a verification email to your inbox. Locate this email and complete this verification step in order to have full access to your account. Plastiq will use this email address for sending payment status notifications and for any correspondences. If you input an incorrect email address at this stage, a new account will be created for that email address. To access an existing account, sign-in with your account's associated email address. |

You need to create a password that satisfies our requirements: 8 characters minimum and including 1 symbol or number character. We will ask for your email address and this password for every future log-in attempt. |
Tell us how you plan on using this Plastiq account. Select Myself if this account will be used for making payments such as rent, taxes, or club fees. Select My Company if you plan to use your account for business-related expenses, like fulfill vendor invoices or pay contractors. If you select this option, we will ask a few more questions to verify your identity. If you plan on making both kinds of payments with this account, select Both. |

Set-up 2SA
Plastiq requires all account holders to set up two-step authentication (2SA) when creating a new Plastiq account. You will need to provide a viable phone number for this step. The phone number can belong to your personal or work cell phone or landline. Then, select your verification method: you have the option of having the code sent to you via text message or via phone call. Note- if you choose to use a landline phone number for 2SA, Plastiq cannot text you a verification code. |
We'll send a verification code to the number you provide us. Still haven't received the verification code after requesting it? Click the "Resend" link beneath the verification code field. Enter your verification code and click "Verify". Please note that for every future log-in attempt, we will prompt you to complete this authentication step. If you successfully verify, you will have the option of checking a box to have Plastiq remember your login information for 30 days. |
Confirming Your Email Address
Finally, you will need to confirm your email address. You have the option of skipping this step so you can start adding recipients to your account, but you won't be able to make a payment until this step is complete. If you have trouble locating this confirmation message, you can click Resend to have another validation request issued to that address. You can also click use a different email address to re-route that message to a new email. |
Plastiq will send a confirmation message to your specified email address. This email lets you click a link to quickly validate that your email address is active and able to receive communications from Plastiq. This link will expire after 48 hours. Once you've completed this step, you'll have full access to all of your account's features! |
